An Evening With Liam
The Irish Cultural Center Hudson Valley was honored to welcome Irish musician Liam Ó Maonlaí back to Kingston on Friday, November 4th. Liam has been the charismatic front man for the internationally known band, The Hothouse Flowers, since their beginnings in the late 1980’s.
Liam’s performance was transcendent, singing in both Gaelic and English. Highland piper Scott Benson and Celtic musicians The T McCann Band began the evening, and during the concert, Liam was joined by local musicians James Ruff on wire harp, Liam O’Neill on the uilleann pipes, Sarah Underhill on vocals, and dancers from the D’Amby Project.

Six Celtic music events, featuring award-winning visiting artists from Ireland and Scotland, and local performers from the Hudson Valley took place this past summer. To further its mission of presenting Irish-American arts and culture to the regional community, with a passion for preserving traditional styles of music and language, the ICCHV helped sponsor the overseas travels for eleven renowned artists, from Ireland and Scotland.
